Yes dropouts returning to high school is good advice. Usually it takes a high school diploma to get into either a university or even the military these days.
Depending on your circumstances there may be other avenues to pray about. If you don't have the ability to live with parents for free anymore, you're probably working at a job that's not as good as you want. The problem is, the only things job interviewers other than family care about is recent work experience or recent education. So you have to get your career moving in the direction you want, realizing it may take years to achieve your goal. Being in Section 8 housing all your life might be feasible but is definitely not by itself a bright future. If you have a stable living situation then you need two full time jobs, one to pay the bills and one to improve your future - which can be going to school. You can get free education online but you would be wise to check with the next step in your career plan to make sure completing any particular step will be good enough to get in their door. A GED will not be accepted by the military I'm told. What about any other job you would want? Ask them. Both phone and visit to find out what they require to get in. Once in it may be easier to move up in the company or government organization or transfer your next 5 years of experience to better employers. Don't get fired without accepting a better job offer first! Start a hobby that can result in income down the road. Some pick frivolous arts and crafts, but smarter people pick smarter hobbies. How about electronics? You might have to go to school for that. Many other careers exist, you have to pick one you love enough to work toward. And if you fail, getting fired after only a year or two repeatedly, it may be time to try something else. Unfortunately even a university diploma won't guarantee you a good career.
