Catholics say Peter was the first Pope because Jesus said, "on this Rock (peteros) I will build my church." However, it is doubtful that Peter or any of several who followed intended to be a Pope.
For some reason, Catholics ignore Paul who was sent to preach in Rome and wrote the book Romans which contains the seed of error, making it a duty to donate material goods for spiritual, which turned Catholicism into the great whore serving money instead of God.
Peter issued support for Paul, least of all, and showed his own near least behavior by the "having all things in common" fiasco where they divided every believer's pie instead of asking for the Father's supply as Jesus would have done and Peter killed Annias and Sophira instead of forgivng them as Jesus would have done.

Since this is a truth forum, I chose to double check what Wikipedia said about popes. Wikipedia can change very frequently. The comment about the first documented Pope is no longer there.
I don't know the truth of which was the first actual Pope as opposed to people like Peter who were not Popes to their knowledge but were called Popes by Catholics.
